MOT – What to expect

There is no need to bring any paperwork with you as all your car details are stored on the DVSA web portal

The whole process and its outcome is recorded to the DVLA in the MOT database You can check on the MOT status of your car here. It may take up to 24 hours for your latest MOT to be shown.

You can watch the test being carried out from the large screen TV in our comfortable waiting area but you’re not allowed to interrupt the tester.

If your vehicle passes the MOT test we will give you a receipt for the transaction and the test result will be recorded on the DVLA MOT database

If your vehicle fails, the MOT: we will give you a refusal of MOT advice. This will be recorded on the DVLA MOT database

You may not drive your vehicle on the road if it fails the MOT test, even if the MOT hasn’t run out except to take it to have the failed defects fixed or to attend a further pre-arranged MOT test appointment.

If your car has failed its MOT test we will be happy to quote for the work that is required but even if you decide to take you vehicle elsewhere unlike other test centres, Lower Earley MOT’s, will not charge you for a re- test within 10 days.

Finally, we book a 45 minute slot for your MOT test which means you must arrive in good time. If you are late this may result in our having to reschedule your appointment if we start your MOT late we will not be finished in time for the next customer.

Please make the most of our comfortable waiting area while you wait for your MOT to be completed or ask about borrowing our Courtesy Bicycles and go for a bike ride around the area
